We route traffic to our peers via the XchangePoint, LoNAP
and MCIX Internet exchanges and to all other destinations via our Level3
IP transit links and our AboveNet IP transit link. Should any of our connections
into these networks fail then traffic will be instantly re-routed over
alternative links.
Our IP transit is cost effective. Instead of measuring
the total number of gigabytes transferred per month, we charge for IP
transit based on the average used. Having a 1Mbps CDR connection means
that you can average 1Mbps of transfer per second for the entire month.
To measure clients usage we use the industry standard 95th percentile
method in which bandwidth measurements are taken every 5 minutes. At the
end of the month, the top 5% of readings are discarded, and the highest
remaining reading left is what the user is billed at. While you may be
allowed to average 1Mbps, you can suddenly burst to a higher transfer
rate. With 95th percentile billing, you can burst to a speed higher than
your CDR (committed data rate) and as long as these bursts do not account
for more than 5% of the month you will not be charged any extra.
